Training Courses
World Wide Packets’ offers a variety of Standard Training Courses designed to provide focused content and rapid delivery that enable customers to realize the full value of their LightningEdge products in an efficient timeframe. All World Wide Packets’ training courses are taught by expert instructors with direct experience in course curriculum at the Spokane Training Center and at other sites around the world. The company also develops and provides Customized Training Courses designed to meet customers’ and partners’ specific training requirements.
Standard Training Courses
The following World Wide Packets instructor-led, standard classroom training courses provide participants with a broad knowledge of the company’s Carrier Ethernet products and solutions. All courses require an understanding of basic networking terms, Ethernet switching, and TCP/IP.
Technical Solutions Training
This two-day course provides an introduction to World Wide Packets’ LightningEdge products, including a solutions and design overview and competitive positioning. It is designed for Technical Sales Engineers and Designers who are responsible for positioning World Wide Packets products and designing solutions based on those products.

Provisioning and Support Training
This three-day course covers basic configuration and deployment of products running the LightningEdge Operating System (LE-OS). It is designed for Service and Support Engineers responsible for deploying, upgrading and supporting LE-OS based products.
Provisioning and Support Training covers the following topics:
- n LE-OS overview
- System management
- Ports, VLANs and L2VPNs
- Standard QoS
- Link and path resiliency
- Troubleshooting
- Integrated lab exercises
Fast Track Technical Training
Fast Track Technical Training is a comprehensive five-day instructor-led course focusing on design, configuration, deployment, and management of LE-OS based products. It includes overviews of all World Wide Packets hardware products and the Ethernet Services Manager (ESM) platform. This comprehensive course is designed for Systems and Support Engineers and Technical Sales Engineers responsible for deploying, upgrading, monitoring, and troubleshooting networks built with LightningEdge products.
Fast Track Technical Training covers the following topics:
- n LE-OS product overview and solutions
- Access portal overview
- System management
- Ports, VLANs and L2VPNs
- Link and path resiliency
- Ingress traffic management
- Standard QoS management
- Multicast services
- Troubleshooting
- ESM overview
- Integrated lab exercises
Network Management Training
Designed for Systems Engineers and Technical Sales Engineers who are responsible for positioning and/or deploying the ESM platform, this thorough four-day course covers the deployment, configuration and use of the company’s Ethernet Services Manager platform, a carrier-grade service creation, activation and management platform for Carrier Ethernet aggregation and access networks. To register for this course, participants must have completed either the Provisioning and Support Training or Fast Track Technical Training course.

Advanced Features Training
Advanced Features Training provides an introduction to the latest World Wide Packets product and feature innovations from value, design and deployment perspectives. The course is offered as a companion module to Technical Solutions, Provisioning and Support, Fast Track, and customized technical training courses. It is designed for Systems Engineers and Technical Sales Engineers responsible for positioning, designing and/or deploying advanced features of LightningEdge products. To register for this course, participants must have completed either the Provisioning and Support Training or Fast Track Technical Training course.
Advanced Features Training currently covers the following topics:
- Multi-protocol Label Switching (MPLS), Virtual Private LAN Switching (VPLS), Hierarchical-Virtual Private LAN Switching (H-VPLS)
- Provider Backbone Transport (PBT)
- Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP)
