LightningEdge® Service aggregation Switch
Carrier-Class QoS
The LE-3300 implements true carrier-class (“hard”) Quality of Service (QoS) in a cost-effective and scalable standard Ethernet environment. This ensures that full 10 Gigabit Ethernet interconnections are provisioned so that network traffic that flows under heavy load conditions is treated as per Service level Agreements (SLAs) requirements (latency, jitter, loss, etc.). The flexible QoS implementation in the LE-3300 permits a wide range of traffic types and rates to be delivered over a single access infrastructure without interference or service degradation from lower priority traffic.
LE-3300 is architected to meet the diverse carrier SLA requirements by tracking creation, implementation, enforcement, and monitoring of QoS parameters. LE-3300 QoS architecture supports MEF style services which make use of the following:
- Flexible QoS implementation, based on service mapping and service level definition
- Sophisticated congestion handling using standards based Two-rate Three-Color Marking (trTCM)
- Automated service provisioning resulting in more comprehensive deployment of QoS, to deliver MEF style services
The LE-3300 guarantees SLAs by providing MEF compliant, flexible QoS architecture. This includes:
- 8 hardware queues per port
- 64 Kbps minimum with 1Kbps increments
- Flexible service mapping
• Source port or source link aggregation group
• Destination port or destination link aggregation group
• IEEE 802.1p/802.1ad
• EIR, CIR, EBS, CBS
The QoS implementation in the LE-3300 enables network operators to allow both point-to-point and multi-point, residential and business services in both wireline and wireless deployments. These capabilities enable greater revenue generation by utilizing available network resources efficiently, resulting into improved customer relations due to enforceable and reliable Service level Agreements (SLAs).
