Every World Wide Packet Concentration and Distribution platform ships with a default configuration of the common LE-OS code base—including default security settings—from the factory. When the device is first powered up at the user’s site, LE-OS can automatically activate this default configuration to include the latest fixes and deploy operator-specific configurations.

LE-OS Automated Activation allocates resources to ensure that the QoS assigned to each traffic flow is met. This auto activation capability enables provisioning of QoS within a LightningEdge Access Network by automatically configuring the SLA and defining the service offering to which customers can then subscribe.

A critical benefit of LE-OS auto-activation is the reduced time it takes to roll out new services. Not only are newly installed switches pre-configured and immediately available, but LE-OS auto-activation enables these new devices to be quickly and easily integrated in the network with the latest network-specific configuration files. Auto-activation minimizes operational expenses for moves/adds/changes as well as enhancing network security. And after new World Wide Packets switches are installed, LE-OS auto-activation simplifies software management and reduces field resource training requirements.
