World Wide Packets Eases Carrier Ethernet Service Deployments
World Wide Packets Announces Ethernet Services Manager 4.5 Enabling Accelerated Ethernet Service Networks
Spokane Valley, WA – October 31, 2006 – World Wide Packets, a leading provider of Carrier Ethernet solutions, today announced the release of Ethernet Services Manager (ESM) 4.5, a carrier grade element management system that is designed to accelerate the management and operation of large scale Ethernet service networks. The ESM 4.5 scales to support millions of service instances across tens of thousands of network elements all while seamlessly integrating with northbound network management system (NMS) and Operations Support System (OSS) applications.
Integrated with all LightningEdge® products, the ESM 4.5 manages and hides all of the complexities and details of an Ethernet Service network, by orchestrating and directing the service management process while ESM handles all of the complexities of deploying, delivering and sustaining “True Carrier Ethernet” services. Going beyond element centric fault, configuration, accounting, performance and security (FCAPS) management, the service centric capabilities of ESM deliver all the operational power of carrier NMS/OSS systems down to the virtual circuits and service ports used for delivering services.
ESM 4.5 is built around four functional modules:
- ESM Control - device, connectivity, and network resource management
- ESM Activation - automated configuration and rapid activation
- ESM Monitor - real-time status, performance monitoring, and assurance
- ESM Bus - standards based integration infrastructure and services
”The latest release of our Ethernet Services Manager is yet another example of World Wide Packets' leadership position by allowing broadband providers to easily and cost effectively deploy Ethernet services across their business and residential networks,” said Dave Curry, President and CEO of World Wide Packets. “We see the ESM 4.5 as setting a new standard for carrier Ethernet deployments on a global scale.”
As part of an integrated management solution, ESM leverages the “True Carrier Ethernet” management plane features of World Wide Packets' LightningEdge Operating System (LEOS) while integrating with northbound carrier NMS and OSS solutions to provide a seamless and automated service environment for Ethernet service providers and carriers.
ESM 4.5 is available now.
