Metro Ethernet Forum Certifies World Wide Packets

World Wide Packets Named as Part of the First Group of Systems to Comply with MEF Global Carrier Ethernet Service Definitions

Spokane Valley, WA – September 16 , 2005 – World Wide Packets, the leading provider of Carrier Class Ethernet Access Networking Solutions, announced todaythat its LightningEdge™ Carrier-Ethernet product family has received official compliance certification from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF).  The inaugural MEF certification acknowledges 16 industry vendors as the first group of companies to comply with its global Carrier Ethernet service definitions.  The certifications were awarded at the 2005 Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Berlin, Germany.

The goal of the Certification Program is to initiate the provision of consistent Carrier Ethernet services worldwide.  The program is designed to help service providers evaluate vendors' equipment, respond to new orders or upgrades and focus on delivering the full benefits of Carrier Ethernet services.  The program launched in April using lometrix as the standard testing service employing the MEF-sanctioned extensive 200-page "Test Plan for Ethernet Services at the UNI."  World Wide Packets was certified as providing Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and E-LAN (Ethernet multipoint-to-multipoint) services compliant with the MEF 9 technical specification for such services

"The global expansion of carrier Ethernet is on the horizon, and the MEF Certification Program will help the networking industry achieve a standardization for worldwide delivery of Carrier Ethernet services," said Dave Curry CEO of World Wide Packets.  “We are excited to be the inaugural vendor class of MEF certification, which underscores World Wide Packets’ leadership in shaping the market for quality Carrier Class Ethernet products and services.”
