RESIDENTS OF CANYON MEADOW REAP THE BENEFITS OF WORLD WIDE PACKETS' LIGHTNINGEDGE SOLUTION - ENJOYING THE BEST IN HIGH SPEED VOICE, DATA AND IP VIDEO
Provo, UT - April 30, 2003 – World Wide Packets announced today that residents of Canyon Meadow, a 162-unit condominium complex located in South Provo, Utah, are enjoying the benefits of world class Ethernet technology via World Wide Packets' LightningEdge solution.
Through local service provider, CeriStar, residents are offered an abundance of services right at their fingertips to include -- a large selection of music channels, up to 41 premium movie channels, over 175 Video-on-Demand (VOD) movie choices, local and long-distance telephone services with an expanded long-distance calling area, and 8-15 Mbps of Internet and Data services. World Wide Packets' LightningEdge solution enables the simultaneous delivery of each of these services using Ethernet over fiber.
Stephen G. Stewart, the CEO of local builder/developer SGS, found it easy to recognize how the World Wide Packets' solution could add value to his Canyon Meadow development. Says Stewart, "In this fast-paced world, more and more people are demanding high-tech capabilities in their homes at affordable prices. Building the World Wide Packets' solution into our development creates a significant value proposition that clearly makes our properties stand out from the competition. People considering buying our homes are thrilled to know these services are available immediately upon moving in."
World Wide Packets VP of Sales Rob Picker commented "Canyon Meadow joins a long list of World Wide Packets customers that have deployed the most advanced service delivery infrastructure available today. The residents of Canyon Meadow enjoy a suite of services that are arguably the envy of many of their neighbors."
Canyon Meadow has deployed the LightningEdge 32 Access Portals, and LightningEdge 211 and 410 Access Concentrators.
The LE-32 Access Portals are located at the customer premise and provide two POTS and seven 100 Mbps Ethernet physical subscriber interfaces, aggregated over one 100 Mbps copper network connection. LE-32 Access Portals are small compact platforms that can be easily mounted in any closet or cabinet.
The LE-32 Access Portals connect to LE-211 Access Concentrators. The LE-211 Access Concentrator aggregates up to twenty-four LE-32 Access Portals to 1000 Mb/s optical Ethernet. The LE-410 Access Concentrator supports up to sixteen 1000 Mb/s optical Ethernet ports for the aggregation and distribution of voice, video and data services to residential and business subscribers.
World Wide Packets LightningEdge solution enables the delivery of video, data, and voice through advanced quality service mechanisms not found in traditional "Enterprise" switches. Simple to implement and manage policies can be configured to guarantee that delay-sensitive applications such as voice and video receive priority handling and that Internet traffic rates are controlled. MAC address-based security mechanisms ensure that only authorized devices are allowed on the network. Large-scale multicast applications, such as IP video, are facilitated through optimized IGMP features.
