World Wide Packets Releases LightningEdge® Network Supervisor
(LE-NS) 1.8 System Management Software
LightningEdge management software provides critical management and OSS/BSS functions
for large-scale service delivery networks
Spokane, WA - May 20th , 2002 – World Wide Packets has released version 1.8 of the LightningEdge Network Supervisor, comprehensive management software for World Wide Packets LightningEdge Solution. LightningEdge Network Supervisor automates, centralizes, and simplifies the management of large-scale, geographically diverse, service delivery networks. The LightningEdge Supervisor enables inventory and management of network capacity and allows simplified device configuration and service activation. Advanced features including system-wide SLA configuration and per port/per VLAN service tracking and accounting permit service providers to deliver and bill for incremental services. Service restoration and protection and automated software version management and distribution to network devices lower operating costs substantially.
"LightningEdge Network Supervisor is designed specifically to enable cost-effective service provisioning, management, and operation of large-scale service delivery networks," said Saeed Anwar, World Wide Packets Director of Application Systems. "Many management systems on the market today are really just shoehorned systems designed to support enterprise networks. They are not designed to deal with the unique demands large-scale, geographically diverse, service delivery networks present, nor do these systems provide simple adaptation with Operational Support Systems and Business Support Systems."
Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) integrated LightningEdge Supervisor into the company's RapidApps™ Solutions with ease. "Because of the XML interface LE-NS features, integration with other OSS systems like RapidApps is easy," noted Gary Hoyer, RapidApps Chief Architect. "Adaptation was complete in only three weeks, which is the fastest time we have experienced."
